We are just under the two-month mark until Lemonade for Love hits Fairfield Park! So many great things have been happening behind the scenes, and we can’t wait to share them with you! Our community never ceases to amaze us.
Lemonade for Love is a child-driven, parent-supported event. When you arrive at the stand, you’ll see that it is the kids who are doing the heavy lifting and the adults who are taking on more of an advisory role. 😉
This year we wanted to stay true to this approach and start engaging the older kids in different ways. We have created a trial “kids committee” with kids (aged 9-14 year) from local schools. Our goal was to have 1-2 students from each school involved.
To date the kids have been doing the following:
- Meeting with their principals and school staff to talk about Lemonade for Love
- Doing presentations for their local community groups, local businesses, and sports teams.
- Working together to create presentations for their school assemblies this spring.
- Going to local businesses to seek support for our raffle.
- Learning more about Silver Creek Pre School and why it is important to support other kids.
Tomorrow the kids’ committee will be attending Silver Creek Pre-School for a tour and to participate in their spring music circle. 🎶 We feel that it is important for the kids to know WHO they are supporting and WHY it is important to rally our community together!
We will share their adventures along the way.
We hope to create a program that we can expand to include even more kids! Having said that, if your child has attended or been involved with the lemonade stand in the past, and would like to be an ambassador for @lemonadeforlove, please reach out to us. We are happy to share the necessary materials! Everyone is welcome to get involved!
Kids (and adults) will be able to sign up for volunteer shifts in a few weeks. Volunteering for one shift, or a whole morning is a great way to get kids of all ages involved! 😉
Thank you for being here and thank you for your support! xo
